I need more hours in a day! What to do when LIFE gets in a way?

Do you also know the feeling when you are soooo busy that you just simply can’t keep on top of your life?

Well, this is how I’ve been feeling for the last couple of months. And that’s also why I haven’t written for a while. I know that you probably thought that I have either:

a) got married, divorced and gave birth to five illegitimate children.

b) moved to a village in Africa where there is no wifi and electricity.

c) died.

Good news is that none of the above options are correct. Although I must say that option b) sounds VERY tempting.

The truth is that I’ve just been mentally busy. Super busy at work and also super busy with “my” life.

At work super busy means, that I’m not meeting deadlines, which I set myself and since “I am the boss” and really want to lead by example, it’s driving me crazy. Grr!

At “my” life… well… there are so many friends I haven’t seen for ages, so many things I haven’t done for ages. Aaa! (I think I saw my mom more often when I lived in UK then now when we live in the same city.)

And I haven’t written. And there are so many things I want to write about!

Usually when I get to this “I’m soooo busy” stage, I try to slow down. Take some time off from work, take time off from life and “just be”.

This last week it was my holiday and I was meant to be hiking in Tatra mountains. But my body sent me a clear signal, that it had enough and I got down with some horrible summer flu. No hiking, working from home and loads of ginger tea with lemon and honey. Typical.

Anyways, upwards and onwards, now I’m feeling pretty hunky dory and I’m ready to conquer the world again.

I really believe that in order to move forward it is important to stop and reflect and also to pet yourself on the back and say “well done me”. So, my friends, I’m feeling proud of myself because in the last two months I have, amongst loads of other stuff managed to:

Ran half marathon under two hours. Yupeee!!!!

To be precise, in 1:58:59.

It was in Hamburg, the course wasn’t completely flat and I LOVED it and I’m sure I could run the next half even faster.

two hours half

Ran my fastest 10k yet. Yupeee!!!!

In Berlin, on a night run, where I met up with some of my running friends (if you speak German make sure you say hello to Manu from Laufwelt HERE).

And I am 100% sure I can run 10k faster than this :)

10k

Not been running alone!

I’m not sure this is an achievement as such but it is making me very happy right now!

Who knows what the future brings but happiness is when you live IN the moment and when you breathe in with all your senses and your eyes wide open and when you breath out with a smile!

Opened a lovely new boutique hotel in Prague city centre.

Yup, this is what I am privileged to do for living. Yay! So, if you are coming to stay in Prague make sure you check out Miss Sophie’s HERE and you can even use my promo code to get 20% discount. Just type in: BABETA

(Nope, I don’t get commission, I’m just really proud of what we do!)

My promise to ME is to make sure that I schedule some time to “just be”.

My promise to YOU is to make sure that I schedule some time to write.

And now, please tell me…

What do you do when LIFE gets in a way?

What have you achieved in the last two months that you are proud of?

What are you never too busy for?

P.S. In the last two months I also registered for my first ever Spartan race in October… I think I should really start doing more press-ups now!

P.P.S. I also cooked and baked a lot. The below yoghurt quark blueberry cheesecake was OMG!

P.P.P.S. I also drank a load of wine but I don’t think you would want to see my drunken pictures :)

  1. Exciting to see you’re back! I love your approach and totally agree that me time is sooo important, especially when we’re busy!! It makes me think of that saying “you should sit in meditation for 20minutes, unless you’re busy, then you should sit for an hour.” :)
You made me lol with the beginning of this post, with the married divorced five illegitimate children thing, cracked me up :)
I have been sooo busy too, I feel like it is that time of the year when getting swamped is just unavoidable! Can’t wait to the end of my uni term in three weeks!!
The boutique hotel looks gorgeous (as does the cheesecake!)! :)

  2. I ALWAYS say I need a few extra hours and the things that I would do…ahh! When life gets in the way, I take a deep breath, remember that it’s just temporary, and try to put everything into perspective. The big picture is that I am happy and healthy and sometimes I just can’t do everything that I want. Congrats on your race! Love the jump pic! Not sure I could ever jump that high on race day : )

  3. Ok hold up…you live in PRAGUE?! That’s amazing! I’m 50% Czech and I went to visit Prague a few years ago with very low expectations and was absolutely blown away. I’m absolutely going to stalk your life now, hope you don’t mind :)

There is definitely always time for coffee. PS always make time for mom — that’s all I can say on that! Haha.
